A high wind watch will be in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday evening, March 13 through 14, with south winds of 25 to 35 mph predicted and gusts of 45 to 60 mph possible.
Portions of northern California, including the Northern San Joaquin Valley, the Motherlode and Delta, are part of the watch area.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
The National Weather Service indicates the strongest winds are expected Tuesday morning into the afternoon. The saturated soil could lead to additional downed trees.
Another atmospheric river will bring a renewed threat of heavy rainfall late Monday and into Tuesday, with potential hydrologic impacts lingering into at least Wednesday. A Flood Watch remains in effect through 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 in the area. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snow melt continues to be possible.
Excessive runoff from heavy rain and snow melt may result in flooding of roadways, rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
