Homicide Suspects Arrested

Two more suspects wanted in connection with the murder of Chaz Bettencourt in Riverbank were arrested Monday afternoon in Redding.

Deputies from the Shasta County Sheriff's Department saw a subject matching the description of Daniel Pantoja, 18 flee into a nearby house and arrested both Pantoja and Turlock Diaz, 14. Pantoja and Diaz are awaiting transport to Stanislaus County where they face charges of homicide, attempted carjacking and criminal gang enhancements.

The third suspect in the case, Jah-Kari Phyall, 15, was arrested on Aug. 12 and is currently being held in the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall in Modesto,

Pantoja, Diaz and Phyall are accused of shooting Bettencourt at an Arco a.m./p.m. minimart on Aug. 5 after he and a friend buying a soda late at night refused to give up their car keys.
