Authorities arrested a Riverbank man on two counts early Wednesday morning, June 11, including impersonating a peace officer.
According to sheriff’s deputies, on Wednesday, June 11 just before 7:30 a.m., a female motorist made reports of a suspicious vehicle after she was pulled over on Oakdale Road and Freddi Lane in Riverbank, by an unknown man driving a dark-colored sedan equipped with flashing red and blue lights.
Deputies immediately responded and were able to locate the vehicle in a nearby residential neighborhood. At 8:12 a.m. deputies contacted the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Alan Rojas of Riverbank, who was still inside the vehicle at the time. The sedan was outfitted with lighting equipment designed to mimic an unmarked police vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect displayed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. Field testing confirmed the suspect’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
Rojas was arrested and transported to the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, where he was booked on charges of Impersonating a Peace Officer and Driving Under the Influence.
Riverbank Police Services issued a statement in connection with the case: “We appreciate the swift actions of the individual who reported this incident, which directly contributed to the suspect’s arrest.”
