On Saturday morning, May 20, the Irish Gathering Society of Modesto will be honoring the innocent victims of the Great Irish Hunger, at California’s first Irish Hunger Memorial. The 10 a.m. ceremony, open to the public, will be hosted at the memorial, in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, about five miles north of Woodward Reservoir.
This will be the fourth commemoration put on by the Modesto-based group but the first one in a few years, as they put it on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Again, all are welcome to attend and honor the memory of the victims of the Irish famine.
