Join holiday light tour, vote for your favorites

Voting is open through Monday, Dec. 15 in the first ever holiday Light Fight, with lots of Oakdale residents getting into the holiday spirit by outfitting their home with twinkling lights and Christmas decorating themes.

Those on the list for the holiday light tour have the chance of winning prizes, and votes for your favorites are being sought.

More than two dozen homes are entered and the list includes:

822 Branding Iron Street; 507 Old Bluff Court; 1442, 1624 and 1660 Haven Street; 1716 Vintage Circle; 1920 and 1935 Calumet Way; 2898 Greger Street; 2305 Semillion Court; 1477 Pontiac Street; 1211 Kimball Street; 426 Walnut Street.

Also, 220 Laurel Avenue; 422 Poplar Street; 148 and 122 Laurel Avenue; 205 East E Street; 861 River Bluff Court; 695 Jacob Way; 619 and 568 Almondcrest Street; 1171 East C Street; 290 Ventanas Avenue; 548 View Point Avenue; and 284 West J Street.

The ‘Light Fight’ is a cooperative effort of Love Oakdale and A Small Town Christmas, designed to encourage residents from throughout the area to embrace the holiday spirit.

There will be one Grand Prize winner and honors for second through fifth place finishers after all the voting is concluded.

A map of entries is also available on the Love Oakdale website and the public is invited to vote online through Dec. 15.

“The Small Town Christmas Committee will select the winner from the top five homes selected in the public judging period,” Love Oakdale officials said of the grand prize winner.

The grand prize is $500 and a special perpetual trophy is being created for the contest, which the winner will get to keep until the 2026 contest.

Second through fifth place finishers will each receive a $100 gift card to an Oakdale restaurant.
