Judge Stacy Speiller To Address AAUW
AAUW Speiller pix.jpg

When Stacey Speiller decided to become a lawyer she knew she wanted to practice an area of the law that would help people, but being a judge wasn’t yet part of her vision. That vision changed though after a few years, and on Nov. 7, 2017 she was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to be a judge in the Stanislaus Superior Court.

Judge Speiller will talk to the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon Branch members and guests about her “Journey to a Judgeship” on Thursday Jan. 10, 2019. Speiller is young, energetic, and believes in the power of mentorship – a belief shared by AAUW, ORE. Judge Speiller and her family call Oakdale home. They like its small town atmosphere, its good school system, and its closeness to work. Speiller did her undergraduate work at Brandeis University and got her law degree from the University of Florida. She earned a specialization in Family Law and was a partner at Cash-Dudley Speiller and Torres Professional Law Corporation before becoming a judge. She is currently assigned to the Civil Department of the Stanislaus County Superior Court, which handles civil cases, probate estates and trusts, civil harassments, and name changes. The 7 p.m. meeting on Jan. 10 will be held in a member’s home. Those interested in attending may call (209) 847-0271 for information and directions.

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Since 1881, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day – educational, social, economic and political. Graduates holding an associates or higher degree from an institution of the AAUW list of qualified institutions and persons holding an honorary degree are eligible for membership in AAUW.
