Letter Carriers Drive Collects Food Saturday

Residents are reminded that local letter carriers are holding their annual food drive this Saturday, May 8 and are asked to put out any kind of non-perishable food they would like to donate to the needy.

Leave canned or other types of food on the doorstep, or better still next to the mailbox, and the carrier will take it away, said Riverbank Postmaster Tony Cordova.

Items collected in Riverbank will be passed on to the Christian Food Sharing group that distributes food each Friday morning at the Scout Hall.

This is an annual and nationwide event of the National Association of Letter Carriers of America that generally occurs in early May.

Last year Riverbank residents donated an estimated 1,500 pounds of food, said Cordova. The letter carriers hope to exceed that amount this year.
