The Stanislaus County Office of Education will hold informational orientations for individuals interested in learning how to earn a high school diploma through its Come Back Kids program. Come Back Kids (CBK) is a free, independent study program for adults (18+) who want to come back and complete their education. The orientations are an opportunity for prospective students to learn more about the program. Approximately 240 people attended the orientation held in January. Due to a high level of interest, additional orientations have been scheduled.

Upcoming orientations are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23, noon and 4 p.m. at CBK, 2239 Geer Road, Turlock; Friday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto; Monday, March 20, 2 p.m., Petersen Event Center; and Friday, April 28, 2 p.m., also at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto.

Adults who want to attend college, technical school, or enter the work force, but have found that not having a high school diploma has stopped them, can “come back” to complete their high school education and receive a diploma. CBK offers a rigorous academic program that is flexible and customized to help participants successfully earn a high school diploma. Students are enrolled in courses according to identified individual areas of need. Choices of courses are available online, and all courses offer support classes with small groups or one-on-one with a teacher.
