Crab Feed Season is again on the horizon, with local community organizations chomping at the bit to chow down. There are two events already scheduled for February.

CVCR Evening Of Crab

First is the Fourth Annual Crab Feed put on by Central Valley Community Resources, set from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, to be held at the Escalon Sportsman’s Club on River Road.

They’ve got pre-sale tickets available for $55 for singles, or $100 for a couple, and a whole table is set for $440. They’re being sold through Eventbrite, an online site for accepting payments.

The CVCR dinner will feature Caribbean style crab, shrimp and tri-tip for the evening, along with jambalaya rice, cornbread and much more.

They’re setting up a silent auction for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that night, with dinner served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and there will also be a no host bar.

Purchase of a full table includes a complimentary bucket of beer or a bottle of wine.

Tickets can be purchased online or by calling CVCR at 209-869-3055. The event is being put on by board members.

Bruin Boosters Set Fundraiser

Later in the month, on Leap Year Day, Saturday, Feb. 29, the Boosters group of Riverbank High parents, alumni and coaches have set their own Crab Feed, the fifth annual event. They, too, are offering all you can eat tri-tip and shrimp in addition to the crab.

The Boosters have set a price of $65, but a table of eight is set at $480 until Jan. 15. After that, organizers say, the price for a full table will go up to the $65 per person amount.

The doors will open at 4 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m. After dinner they’ll hold some raffles then, there’s a dance following.

The Boosters Crab Feed will be held at the FES Hall in Oakdale, at 140 N. Lee Ave.
