Delicato

A trio of local artists entered work – and came away with some recognition – in the Delicato Vineyards 2017 Fine Arts Show. Work remains on display through Saturday, Feb. 4.

Joan Cardoza of Oakdale received first place honors in the Animals Category for her entry Parker the Dane in addition to third place in the same category, with the piece Heading Home. Also, Cardoza picked up an Honorable Mention for her work, Yosemite El Capitan in the Landscape division.

In the Whimsical category, Riverbank artist Eliseo C. Vazquez earned an Honorable Mention for his work, Big Patch and Teresa Duchscher of Escalon was honored with a third place award for her piece Eggplants, entered in the Other category.

The Best of Show honors were presented to Gerald Boyd of Galt with his piece, Family at the Black Rodeo. Categories include Landscape, Floral, Portrait, Animals, Whimsical and Other, with the Visitors’ Award still to be presented.

Award also went to artists from communities ranging from Stockton to Ceres, Merced to Oakley and Ripon to Livermore.

More than 100 pieces of fine art are on display in the Delicato Wine Tasting Room until Saturday, Feb. 4, with the Tasting Room open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“Be sure to see this painting in person,” organizer Dorothy Indelicato said of the top honored painting showpiece. “Gerald Boyd’s Best of Show captures the timeless essence of this young family using pastels, a very difficult medium to master.”

The art exhibit will be on display through Feb. 4 and all Delicato visitors and friends of the artists are welcome to view as well as vote for their favorite piece of art until Thursday, Feb. 2. The artist who collects the most visitor votes by that time will receive a $100 Delicato Gift Card.

Beginning at 2 p.m. on Feb. 4, art enthusiasts and wine tasting visitors will be encouraged to visit with the artists and judge Peggi Kroll-Roberts during the Delicato Arts Show Awards Ceremony. At 3 p.m., awards will be presented to the ribbon winners in the Tuscan Room at the winery.

Delicato is in Manteca, off Highway 99 at the French Camp Road exit.
