What better fun to have on an otherwise rainy day? Retire indoors, of course, and practice your basketball skills.

Riverbank’s junior high-aged players had an opportunity to do so this past week, as a continuation of a previous six-week series of youth basketball clinics continued on the RHS campus.

The on-again, off-again drizzle didn’t keep a group of about 20 students from gathering at the Bruin gym on Tuesday, March 20, for a couple of hours of drills and practice, guided by a small group of former Bruin basketball players who directed the workout.

Drills emphasizing ball handling, passing, dribbling and shooting were the order of the day. Participants broke up by twos to throw the ball back and forth, or dribbling between their legs. And they practiced one- and two-hand shooting, repeating the drills over and over.
