Body Found Sunday In Riverbank Canal

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a suspicious death after the body of a deceased person was found in a canal on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10 around 4 p.m.

Riverbank Police Services Police Chief Erin Kiely said deputies were called to the area of Jackson Avenue and Morrill Road in Riverbank on Sunday afternoon after a person walking along the canal discovered a body.

Officials would only say the body is that of an adult male and would not elaborate if it was a homicide. At press time for The News positive identification on the man’s identity had not yet been made.

The cause of death is under investigation by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
