Business Womens Symposium Focuses On Life, Work Topics
Business Woman

Mark the calendar for Thursday, Nov. 5 and plan to attend the inaugural Business Women’s Symposium, presented by the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Stanislaus Business Alliance. The symposium is planned at Greens on Tenth Street, 953 10th St., Modesto.

The event will present insights, inspiration and motivational ideas from successful business and educational leaders addressing core topics that impact every business person today: communicating across generations, achieving success in your finances, and embracing work life balance.

Featured area leaders and keynote speakers will include Lynn Dickerson, CEO of the Gallo Center for the Arts; and UC Merced Chancellor Dorothy Hughes; with panelists Julia Rhodes, Founder and President of KleenSlate Concepts LP; Christine Schweininger, CEO of Vision Magazine and Vice President of the Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and Ann Endsley, Founder and Owner of Greens Table. This first-of-its kind event is designed to bring business owners and managers together to discover new concepts and enjoy a peer-to-peer networking opportunity.

“We’ve assisted hundreds of small businesses in Modesto, Merced and Tuolumne counties over the years and saw a real need for this type of event,” explained SBDC Director Kurt Clark. “Business women are an integral part of company leadership, yet there has not been a forum explicitly designed to address the essential challenges they face in their jobs and their personal lives. We’re delighted to have such well-recognized speakers support this event and share their expertise.”

Clark noted that the event is open to everyone, because these issues affect men as well as women.

Hosted by Greens on Tenth Street at 953 10th St., the Business Women’s Symposium is from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5. The cost is $20 and includes a breakfast buffet, raffle entry and a swag bag. There will be a question and answer session with the panelists, as well as an opportunity to network.

Seating is limited, and reservations are highly recommended.

“We’re getting a tremendous response,” said Katy Winders, SBDC Assistant Director. “We’re honored by the number of companies that have stepped up to sponsor and support this symposium.”

Event sponsors include Ambeck Mortgage Association and New York Life, and gold sponsors Sciabica’s Olive Oils, The Modesto Bee, Greens, US Bank, MOCSE Credit Union, Ward Promotional Marketing Solutions, Marcia Hermann Design, and Vision Magazine.
