Carjacker In Custody, Victims Vehicle Found
Stan. Co. Sheriffs

During the graveyard shift of Wednesday, Oct. 7 Riverbank Police Services Deputies were dispatched to the area of McDonald’s in Riverbank where a reported carjacking had just occurred. They determined the suspect, Albert Kiryakoz, 22, asked the owner of the car to let him use it and when the victim refused, Kiryakoz pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim’s chest. He told the victim to give him the car, or he would kill them.

After the car was taken, the victim notified authorities and a “Be On the Lookout” (BOL) description of the victim’s car and suspect were quickly broadcast. Shortly thereafter, Modesto Police Department officers located the vehicle near Floyd Avenue and Oakdale Road. A short pursuit ensued and Kiryakoz was taken into custody without further incident. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of carjacking, vehicle theft, criminal threats, brandishing a deadly weapon and violation of his probation.

Kiryakoz was jailed on $450,000 bail in connection with the carjacking incident and a court appearance is set for Wednesday, Oct. 14 in that case.
