Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Deputies Receive Tip
Stan. Co. Sheriffs

A Riverbank mother’s suspicion of items discovered in her son’s bedroom led not only to the 17-year-old’s arrest for possession of stolen property but also led officers to his involvement in a Modesto carjacking from the previous day.

On Wednesday, Feb. 3 deputies were summoned to the residence when the mother found a car stereo and power tools she believed were stolen along with ammunition in her son’s bedroom.

According to a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department press release, the son was on probation and having ammunition was a violation of the terms of that probation.

Deputies conducted a probation search and, in addition to the tools and stereo, found prescription medication and pill bottles belonging to someone else. An investigation showed that individual had been the victim of a carjacking in the City of Modesto.

The victim identified the teenager as the suspect from the incident and was also able to identify the property.

Deputies searched the neighborhood where the teen lived and found the stolen car parked on Lindbrook Drive a few streets away from the juvenile’s residence.

The 17-year-old male was booked at Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall for carjacking. The stolen property and vehicle were returned to the owner.
