Billed as ‘The Premier Street Festival,’ the annual Riverbank Cheese and Wine Exposition is scheduled for this weekend.

Being hosted primarily in the downtown area, along the Santa Fe and Third street corridor, this year’s edition marks the 41st Annual Riverbank Cheese and Wine Exposition and the festivities are set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15.

The festival opens each day at 10 a.m. and the Wine Tasting Sessions, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days, will be hosted this year at the Antigua Event Center, 3200 Santa Fe. Saturday expo hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is free general admission for the festival itself; wine tasting tickets are $20 in advance.

This year, for the fourth year, the expo is being hosted by the City of Riverbank, working in cooperation with Chris Ricci Presents.

Previously organized and hosted by the Riverbank Chamber of Commerce – which founded the annual fall fest –it also had been organized by the Riverbank Rotary Club for eight years before being taken over by the city.

Organizers anticipate more than 100 vendors to set up shop for the two days of the expo, with arts and crafts, food booths, merchandise and more. The craft beers will also make a return, by popular demand, and there will also be a carnival area for the kids, music on multiple stages and a skateboarding demonstration at the skatepark on First Street. A celebration of Hispanic culture is planned as part of this year’s event as well, with dancing horses, music and more.

A Cheese Zone will be featured, to add some delectable cheesy treats to the traditional bites paired with wines at the tasting sessions.

The weather for this second weekend in October looks to be nearly picture perfect for enjoying a day outside, with high temperatures in the mid-70s on Saturday, peaking at 80 degrees on Sunday.
