An estimated 60 or so walkers and runners participated in this year’s Color Run in Jacob Myers Park this past weekend.

Area residents as well as city staff members participated in the annual event which has pretty much replaced the traditional Easter Egg Hunt of years past.

Riverbank Recreation Supervisor Kerrie Webb said the egg hunts got to be too complicated in the past, with early participants grabbing all the eggs, sometimes preventing youngsters from finding any when it was their turn. Started at Castleberg Park, on the ball field, the hunt was moved to Jacob Myers Park, without any resolution in the problems. Webb said it was discontinued several years ago, replaced by the Color Run.

The Third Annual “Got Color? Run” and 5K Run-Walk was hosted Saturday morning, April 15, in the park. Participants had to pre-register for the event.

Proceeds are to be used for renovations at Jacob Myers Park.
