Though summer is nearly over and schools are already open once again, the Riverbank Certified Farmers Market will continue for a few weeks longer in the downtown area.

The market is scheduled to remain on Wednesdays, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Community Center Park, on Santa Fe Street, across from Cardozo Middle School. Each week, the market has featured performers who presented live music or karaoke on the stage next to the Community Center in addition to the fruits, vegetables and other produce a market features.

Sponsored by the Riverbank Chamber of Commerce, before school started up for the new year, the evening’s entertainment also featured a free movie, projected on the side of the center. The movie schedule ended so that it wouldn’t conflict with evening homework and bed times for students returning to class.

Tonight's featured performer, Aug. 19, is scheduled to be Brad Brown, who sang at the market in June. The Riverbank Farmer’s Market also includes free swim hours at the nearby community pool during its open hours, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The market is scheduled to run through Sept. 2.
