The Riverbank Library will offer free crafts, activities and informational programs this October, beginning with a month-long Candy Count contest. All ages are invited to estimate the number of candy pieces in the library’s jar of candy. The person with the closest guess will win the entire jar of candy. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Riverbank Library.
The Mayor’s Book Club took place on Monday. Mayor Richard O’Brien read a story to preschool age children and their families at the library following Story Time.
Today, Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m., attorney Julie Richardson will review the basics of estate planning. Richardson will cover the documents needed in estate planning, as well as other important issues to consider.
Teens can celebrate Teen Read Week on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 3:30 p.m. with the Teen Felt Zombie Craft. Participants will learn how to hand-stitch pieces of felt to make zombies that they may take home. This craft is sponsored by the Friends of the Riverbank Library.
Gordon Little Jr., from Farmers Insurance will lead a Theft Prevention Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. This free presentation will help participants learn what to do to keep their homes safe, as well as what to do in case of loss. The Theft Prevention Workshop is sponsored by Friends of the Riverbank Library and Farmers Insurance.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. the Riverbank Library Book Club will meet to discuss ‘Olive Kitteridge’ by Elizabeth Strout. Library book clubs provide an opportunity for community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussion with others. A limited number of the books being discussed are available for checkout at the library’s circulation desk.
The library will host a Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children and their families are invited to craft monsters, ghosts and jack-o-lanterns. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Riverbank Library.
