December Features Pet Adoption Promotion

Noel is wearing her holiday wreath hoping you will notice her and give her a home for the holidays and beyond. She is one example of the pets available for a discounted $25 adoption fee during December. Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, vaccinations and microchip.

A mirth-filled holiday season is yours for the low price of saving the life of a rescued pet: a mere $25 adoption fee will give you the not-to-be missed experience of opening your heart and home to a new furry family member or two from the Oakdale Animal Shelter.

Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance (OSPA) is joining national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society, along with animal rescue groups and shelters across the country, in the “Bring Joy to Your World” annual animal adoption campaign running through Dec. 31.

“So many people don’t realize how absolutely amazing and love-filled rescued pets can be,” said OSPA incoming President Lisa Dolling. “It’s like they know you save their life.

“The Oakdale Animal Shelter has adorable adoptable pets ready to go home now.”

Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, thinks everyone at the Oakdale Animal Shelter should go home for the holidays. This year OSPA hopes to help make that wish come true for as many pets as possible. That means reduced adoption fees for most pets all month long. So, if you are looking for that special someone to add to the family, now is the perfect time to do it.

OSPA, a Best Friends Animal Society Network partner, is funding the special “Bring Joy to Your World” adoption promotion to help save lives of cats and dogs that simply need a second chance. Meet some of the lovable pets at the adoption event at Petco, Crossroads Shopping Center on Saturday Dec. 5, 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. or visit the Oakdale Animal Shelter, 9800 Liberini Ave. in Oakdale to meet your next furry best friend.

For more information call the Oakdale Animal Shelter at 209-847-5625.

If you already have a pet, but can’t afford to get it spayed or neutered, OSPA offers low cost spay/neuter vouchers for dogs and cats residing in Oakdale or Riverbank. Prevent unplanned litters of kittens and puppies and reduce the number of homeless pets who end up at the local animal shelter. Check their website at www.oakdaleshelterpetalliance.org for pricing and more details. Call 209 543-5434 for further information.

To obtain your voucher, bring proof of residency in Oakdale or Riverbank, proof of low income (EBT, Medi-Cal, or PG&E CARES), and payment in cash for each pet. You do not need to bring your pet with you to apply for a voucher. Pet owners may apply for vouchers on Saturday, Dec. 5 in the following locations: Petco, Crossroads Shopping Center, Riverbank, 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. or Oakdale Animal Shelter, 9800 Liberini Ave., Oakdale 10 a.m. until noon.
