Two lovely ladies graced the stage at Concerts in the Park this past Wednesday, July 13. Oakdale musician Alida McKeon, returning for the second year, took turns with Mattéa Overstreet of Modesto, singing original songs and other popular tunes for the appreciative crowd, friends and family.

McKeon performed at Concerts in the Park last year, just after graduating from Oakdale High School. She then attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

She’s on summer break now, back in town, but plans to attend her sophomore year at Berklee’s Valencia, Spain, campus in the fall.

Concerts in the Park is a weekly feature of the Riverbank Chamber of Commerce’s Family Night/Certified Farmers Market held at Community Center Park. The free event regularly features activities for all ages, including a free movie from the Marvel Studios library. Tonight’s featured film is Thor: The Dark World.

Also, the July 20 featured theme will be Back to School Night. Families have been signing up for the free backpack giveaway for several weeks.

Tonight’s entertainers are scheduled to be the Joe Reyes Band. The Car Show continues, with votes being cast for ‘Crowd Favorite’ which will be awarded toward the end of the summer.

Other features include activities provided by the city Parks and Recreation Department, and a free bounce house for the youngsters.

Concerts in the Park/Family Night Out/Certified Farmers Market runs each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the featured free movie shown after dark.
