Educational employment opportunities are soaring in Stanislaus County and the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) is hosting a Careers in Education Day and Substitute Teacher Recruitment Job Fair on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Martin Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto. This is a free event and will provide information for those interested in learning how to become a professional educator in California as a credentialed or substitute teacher.

Local school districts, including private and charter schools, SCOE, colleges, and credential analysts will be on site to answer credentialing questions. Districts will be recruiting substitute teachers for the 2016-17 school year and colleges from throughout the Central Valley will provide information about their credential programs.

Attendees will glean advice and support with: credential assistance on emergency 30-day substitute permit; short term staff permit and provisional permit; fingerprinting for substitute teaching; California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) information; how to use EDJOIN.ORG to apply for positions electronically; grants and financial assistance for college programs.

“Those coming to the Career Day will have face-to-face contact with Human Resources staff, district and college administrators, to get their questions answered,” said Suzanne Lazar, Credential Analyst at SCOE. “If someone is interested in a career in education, this is the event to attend. There are many career possibilities and job openings and we are excited to provide the resources and opportunities.”
