TASTING

Local grocery shoppers one evening last week were treated to samples of potential holiday feast ingredients as O’Brien’s Market in Riverbank staged its annual “Taste Sensation” event.

Held on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, tasting stations were scattered around the store, with samples from most grocery departments available to shoppers.

The menu contained the usual holiday fare, like honey glazed ham, turkey, potatoes and gravy, along with deserts, beverages, even salami, breads, sliders and special cheeses.

Those who participated also received information on O’Brien’s special heat and serve holiday dinners. Officials say they have packages designed to serve families of different sizes, with differing menus available. Items are also available a la carte.

The O’Brien’s stores, two in Modesto, in addition to the one here in Riverbank, will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 but orders can be picked up beginning Wednesday and running through Saturday.
