True to its schedule, the Riverbank Federated Women’s Club gathered for its first meeting of the 2017-18 season on Sept. 19 at the Riverbank Scout Hall on High Street.

The 50-year-old organization plotted out their yearly activities at the annual “September Salad Social,” where board members provide a buffet of salads for guests and members to enjoy.

The Riverbank Federated Women’s Club, RFWC, is devoted to improving the quality of life in Riverbank, according to President Marie Shubin.

“Members can be found participating in community activities like the upcoming Riverbank Cheese and Wine Expo, where they will be collecting tickets at the tasting room,” she said.

All of the profits from the club’s fundraising activities are reinvested in the community, according to Shubin. Many Riverbank students have benefitted from their Glenda Alpers scholarship program and sponsorships to Scout camps, robotics competitions and Tech Trek.

This year’s officers are Marie Shubin, President; Leanne Jones-Cruz, Vice President; Chris Edwards, Recording Secretary; Vicky Holt, Corresponding Secretary; Marilyn McRitchie, Treasurer; Jeanine Tucker, Membership Vice President; Mary Lomax, Parliamentarian; and Diana McGinnis, Newsletter Editor.

“If you are looking for a way to get involved with your town and give back to the community, please join us,” Shubin said.

The next meeting is Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m. at the Scout Hall on High Street.
