A new type of exercise program has come to Plaza del Rio Park in downtown Riverbank. This past week, instructors Lorie Avila, left, and Tammy Holliday, brought their PoundFit program to the area, beginning weekly meetings at the park to stretch and exercise. It is part of an effort by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department to get back to providing services for Riverbank residents. The program uses the ‘drum sticks’, called ripstix, to help make the stretches more effective and interesting. The meetings are held at the park in the evenings, on Wednesdays. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 863-7150.
