Authorities are continuing an investigation into an early Saturday morning explosion at a home in the 6000 block of Terminal Avenue in Riverbank.

According to the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District, the call came in about 5:40 Saturday morning, July 8. The cause was listed as a possible hash oil lab and authorities found a man suffering from burns sitting outside in front of the home when they arrived.

There was no fire when crews arrived on scene but there was significant damage inside the home caused by the explosion. Officials said it appeared the injured man had been in a bedroom attempting to extract hash oil when the explosion occurred. Hash oil is a concentrated form of marijuana and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to the location. Along with the damage caused by the explosion, marijuana plants were located on the property and Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency officials were called in to assist with the investigation.

The injured man, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Further action in the case is pending.
