The Plaza Del Rio was spruced up this past week in a plaza improvement project led by the new Parks and Facilities Supervisor Ron Werner. This was one of the projects that Werner and the parks staff have completed since he began working for the city on May 26. The position encompasses the maintenance and repairs of the parks and facilities in Riverbank.
“It has been very busy with the City of Riverbank so far,” stated Werner, settling in to his position over the last several weeks. “The Parks and Recreation Department has a lot of events going on through the summer and into fall. Luckily the entire City staff has been friendly and welcoming since I have taken the position.”
The downtown improvements were a group effort that took approximately two weeks. Grover Landscaping fixed the irrigation issues at the Plaza Del Rio, staff members cleaned the fountains and David McDaniel helped repair the broken fountain heads and the chemical feeding system which is now operational.
The parks staff also planted eight new oak trees at Jacob Myers Park, cleaned up the street landscape along Claus Road south of Townsend as well as the Plaza del Rio improvements.
“My long term goal is to concentrate my efforts on making the Riverbank Parks a safe and inviting place for all the community to enjoy,” said Werner.
