Free Tax Help, Phones, Party And More At Library

Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs will be offered at the Riverbank Library on Wednesdays through March 25. VITA/TCE volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS to provide tax preparation assistance.

Taxpayers must bring ID and social security cards for each person who will be on their tax return and they should bring the prior year’s tax return, if available. Interested parties are urged to make an appointment, although walk-ins may be helped if time permits. Call 209-869-7008 or visit the Riverbank Library to schedule an appointment.

Come on over to the Riverbank Library to learn about California Phones, a free, official State of California program. Learn about and see the specialized telephones and other equipment that can help you communicate with others more easily. There is no social security, income, or age requirement to qualify for this free State Mandated Program. Staff for California Phones will be there on Wednesday, March 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the VITA preparation.

A Dr. Seuss Party will be held at the Riverbank Library on Tuesday, March 3 at 3:30 p.m. Join in celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Build a Whoville, design your own crazy socks, and play some Dr. Seuss themed games at the celebration. Find the Cat’s hat hidden in the library to win a prize. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. This is sponsored by Friends of the Riverbank Library.

With spring around the corner, this is the perfect time to start a spring garden. The following library programs can provide inspiration and help residents plan their gardens.

On Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. learn about Container Vegetable Gardening. Just in time for spring planting, Master Gardener Anne Schellman will teach a class on vegetable gardening in containers. Container gardening is a great way to grow vegetables even if you have limited space or mobility.
