Historical Society Sets Memories Day, Brunch

This month’s Memories Day gathering of the Riverbank Historical Society is scheduled this week, coming up Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at the museum, 3237 Santa Fe.

“We’ve moved it to the second Thursday of each month,” Society member Paulette Roberson said of the Memories Day continuing this spring.

This month, she added, local business owner Will Hecht of Escalon’s Heck of a Deal shop will present a program on pottery. An expert on dishes, pottery, crystal and china, Hecht will focus his Riverbank presentation on pottery and those planning to attend can bring in a favorite dish for Hecht to try and identify and provide some information about for the owner.

“He’ll also bring in some of his pottery,” added Roberson.

All are welcome to attend the Thursday morning presentation.

Also, plan to join the Riverbank Historical Society this weekend, as it hosts its annual fundraising brunch. Always set for the Sunday after Mother’s Day, this year the popular fundraising event has a new name. The society will host a “Farm to Table” brunch on Sunday, May 15, at the Riverbank Community Center, 3600 Santa Fe St., between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

It is hoped it will be convenient for church-goers to participate. The menu will still feature custom made omelets, fresh fruit and muffins, and include coffee and orange juice, with mimosas available for an additional $2 each. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children. You can purchase them on the society’s website, www.riverbankhistoricmuseum.com or inside the museum during regular business hours.
