Holiday Pet Adoptions

Santa Paws returned to Riverbank on Saturday to help the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance raise funds to help local homeless pets to find ‘fur-ever’ homes.

Santa set up station inside the Petco pet supply store in the Crossroads Shopping Center on Saturday afternoon. He volunteered to hold pets on his lap for a special holiday photo. According to Alliance officials, over 60 pets had their picture taken — “one cat, one chinchilla, and the rest doggies.”

The proceeds will benefit the homeless pets of both Riverbank and Oakdale through the Alliance.

At the same time, out in front of the store, dozens of dogs were available for adoption, drawing a lot of attention from young and old alike. For a time there was a long line of folks preparing to sign up for possible adoption.

Volunteers Al Scoles and Martha Wilson were singled out for their assistance with the photo shoots.
