The picturesque setting of Alpine County is the location for the exciting 25th Annual Bear Valley Triathlon. The popular Central Sierra Labor Day Weekend tradition will be held on Sunday morning, Sept. 3, the day before Labor Day Monday, at Bear Lake, in Bear Valley Village.

Nestled in a mountain location, the triathlon course features a 600-yard swim (warm water, close to 70 degrees, wet suits are allowed, but not necessary); 10.5-mile bike ride (rolling, climbing loop course); and 3.4-mile run (rolling road). Air temperature will be approximately 70 degrees by 10:30 a.m. The triathlon will conclude with the awards ceremony, raffle, and a barbecue.

All participants must provide and wear a swim cap for the swim and an ANSI approved bike helmet during the bike. The traditional On Your Mark Events trophies will be awarded to the first overall male and female winners and the masters overall male and female finishers (ages 50 and over). The top three finishers (male and female categories) age groups in 10-year increments to 70-years-old and over, will receive engraved medals. The top male, female, and co-ed triathlon teams will also be awarded medals.

Entry fee includes refreshments, T-shirt, awards, raffle ticket, and post-race barbecue lunch with beer (for those 21 and over). Lunch is available to non-runners at a cost of $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

The Bear Valley Triathlon entry fee is $80 in advance and $85 on race day. Team fee (three participants, registering at the same time) is $200 in advance and $220 on race day.

Race check-in and registration will open at 8:30 a.m., followed by the start time at 10 a.m.
