A local art studio is hosting its first ever holiday party next weekend in downtown Riverbank.
Stuff and Things Art Studio is holding an Artist’s White Elephant Party at its Santa Fe Street location on Sunday, Dec. 15, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The free event will feature snacks, activities and more.
Owner Alise Frosceno is celebrating, in addition to the holiday season, the completion of her first full year in Riverbank. She opened her shop in December 2018.
The idea of the party on Dec. 15, she said, is for visitors to bring a handmade item as a gift, no wrapping required.
“At 3:30 p.m., we’ll begin the gift exchange,” she explained. “Each person gets a number assigned when they RSVP. During the party, the numbers will be called and participants can pick one gift from the group.”
Each gift can be stolen by another attendee, she added, up to three times for each piece.
“Then it becomes ‘locked’ to its new owner,” Frosceno said. “So the more people that come, the better chance of keeping that special item.”
The art studio proprietor also said it’s important to RSVP, because space is limited. The best ways to contact her are by e-mail, at StuffAndThingsArtStudio@gmail.com or on Facebook.
Her studio is located behind a historic downtown building, at 3220-C Santa Fe St., at the rear of the building where TSW Financial Tax Service is located. Access to the studio is gained off of the alley that runs from City Hall South on Third Street to Antigua Event Center on Second Street.
