Turlock Sunshine Strummers Ukulele Group will perform Hank Williams songs and other similar favorites during the hour before the May 1 and May 15, 2 p.m. performances of Sierra Repertory’s Hank Williams: Lost Highway. The group of retired teachers, nurses and musicians plays on a regular basis at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock and various area nursing homes.

“Since we began performing four years ago, we have consistently used Hank Williams’ music as part of our repertoire,” said the group’s event coordinator Sam Carnemolla. “Williams’ music is loved by the attendees of all our performances.”

Hank Williams is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential American singers and songwriters of the 20th century, with 11 songs hitting number one Billboard country and western ratings, and 35 singles that made Top 10. Sierra Rep’s Lost Highway features a talented cast of live singers and musicians with 20-plus favorite Hank Williams songs. The show runs through May 15 with performances Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m.; and 2 p.m. on Thursdays, May 5 and 12.
