Local Races, Measure L On Ballot
Vote1

Voters go to the polls next Tuesday, Nov. 8 in the Presidential General Election, with a few local races of note as well.

In Riverbank, two candidates – Cindy Fosi and Anthony McKinney – are running to fill a four-year term on the Riverbank City Council, District 2. The two face off in the race and the top vote getter will earn the council seat.

In the Congressional race for District 10, incumbent Jeff Denham and Michael Eggman square off, while Ken Vogel and Heath Flora are both in the running for the State Assembly District 12 seat. State Senate District 5 voters will choose between Cathleen Galgiani and Alan Nakanishi.

Among the ballot measures of local interest, Measure L is the Stanislaus Council of Governments measure for a transactions and use tax to provide funding for local transportation improvements including fixing potholes, maintaining streets, improving emergency response, providing safe routes to school, providing senior, veterans and disabled shuttle services, and improving safety/reducing traffic congestion on Highway 99/major streets. The measure would allow the Stanislaus County Transportation Authority to enact a half-cent sales tax generating $38 million annually for transportation projects. It requires a two-thirds affirmative vote for passage.
