Mistlin Gallery In Modesto Hosts New ‘Visions’ Exhibit
mistlin show

A new Visions Reimagined show has opened at Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J St., downtown Modesto. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4 p.m.

These are regular hours for the gallery, which is slowly working its way back to ‘normal’ this summer. They are still taking precautions, such as asking people to wear masks and limiting group sizes for visits but also look forward to several programs over the next couple of months.

The artist award reception for the new ‘Visions’ exhibit will be Thursday, June 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In the newly opened show, the objective of the Visions Reimagined exhibit is to show how one small sketch or field painting, done in any medium out of doors, can be enlarged and enhanced back at the artist’s studio. Artists may reinterpret, enlarge or transform the field piece into a completely different style. It’s fun and challenging for the artist. The new, reimagined painting often yields a complete surprise and presents an entirely new perspective. The imagination of several members of the Valley Sun Catchers helped to conceive and execute this show.

Regular Third Thursday Art Walks will resume in July. Due to road construction, J Street will be closed on Saturday, June 5, and so will the gallery. Officials are also looking for some summer help. There are lots of ways to volunteer at the gallery, and they need interested people, young and old, to help them get moving again. Call 209-529-3369 and ask for Linda, or email ccaagallery@gmail.com to find out what you can do.

All are invited to watch the weekly Expose Yourself to Art online artist talks every Sunday at 2 p.m. on Facebook and YouTube.

There is a full schedule of camps and classes to choose from during June and July: camps for kids, classes for teens and adults. Visit ccaagallery.org to register online. Early bird savings end Sunday, June 6, so sign up soon.

The new membership year starts July 1. Get your new or renewing membership in now. You can pay online or pay by mail, or in person at the gallery. Current members should be getting a renewal form in the mail soon. Membership dues are rising a bit to make up for losses this past year.

Also, you can find the call to artists and information about the fifth annual Autumn Art Festival juried member show at ccaagallery.org

Entries will be received, juried and judged in person, as in previous years, and awards will be given in five categories.
