May is music month at Jacob Myers Park, with the first episode of the Summer Concert Series hosted on Saturday, May 7.
There was music, of course, provided by singer/guitarist Nathan Ignacio, but there was more. In addition to youngsters blowing bubbles in the warm spring night at the park, there were a number of vendors, including food trucks.
Recreation Supervisor Tony Lemonds noted that the crowd attending the first evening was a little sparse, but it was “probably because two other festivals were going on nearby,” namely the Asparagus Festival in Stockton, and a downtown market in Ceres.
He hoped more people would turn out this week, with a concert coming up on May 14.
Similar to Concerts in the Park held in years past, this is the first time in a couple of (COVID) years that the city Parks and Recreation Department has been able to stage events like this.
Singer Ignacio performed while accompanying himself on guitar, but also used a number of percussion instruments played with his feet.
Summer Concert Series continues this Saturday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with music by The Wise Guy’z, performing a variety of popular songs.
