NEVER FORGET
RIV Flags 8-13-17

Flags fly in the Monday morning breeze on Sept. 11, the American flags lining the Atchison Street/Highway 108 corridor through the heart of downtown Riverbank. Often put out for holidays including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veterans’ Day, the flags on Monday were placed in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001 – the day terrorist attacks struck the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon and with a fourth plane going down in a field in Pennsylvania, believed to have been forced down by passengers who overpowered the terrorists and succeeded in keeping the plane from its intended target. The Day of Remembrance was observed in many communities across the country on the 16th anniversary of 9/11.
