Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District took steps to fill one of its two vacant director positions with the appointment of Steve Green to its Board of Directors on Thursday, Sept 19.

Green, 49, of Waterford, is a public works supervisor for the City of Waterford and was previously approved for the fire district seat by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors.

Green joins the fire protection district board as it decides on a new fire chief for the department and examines expanding and taking on fire service currently covered by the City of Oakdale and the Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District. Dave Woods is board president, Michelle Guzman vice president and Shayne Strasser serves as a director.

An agenda distributed Monday afternoon, Sept. 23, announced a special meeting of the Board of Directors for the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 3318 Topeka St., Riverbank.

After the call to order, welcome and instruction from the Board President and the roll call of members, the board will review the consent calendar and then open up the meeting for a public comment period. Then, they are scheduled to go in to closed session for discussion of two items: Item 4.1 is consideration of a personnel matter – District Fire Chief (employment) and Item 4.2 concerns District labor negotiations, with discussion and possible direction on the District’s MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and negotiations.

After the closed session, the board will return to open session and, if applicable, report on any action taken in the closed session.

The meeting on Thursday is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time.
