On Thursday, Sept. 14, U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) released his fifth Thank-a-Vet Thursday (TVT) video, honoring Retired U.S. Army Specialist Jack Griffith. Shared on Rep. Denham’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages, the video is an excerpt of an interview conducted by Wounded Warrior Fellow Peter Butler as part of Rep. Denham’s ongoing efforts with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.

“I am honored to represent so many brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for their country,” said Rep. Denham. “They deserve our thanks, and sharing their stories is just one of the many ways we can show our gratitude. Thank you to Jack Griffith for your service and for taking the time to sit down with Pete in my Modesto office and record your story.”

Jack Griffith served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer from January 2008 to September 2011. He was stationed out of Fort Hood, Texas as part of the Third Brigade, First Infantry Division Special Troops Battalion. He was injured while participating in combat operations in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom and was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Service Ribbon and National Defense Service Medal.

His story is shared as part of Rep. Denham’s #TVT social media initiative to thank veterans for their service. Rep. Denham invites and encourages social media users to post photos and videos of veterans in their community using #TVT to recognize and raise awareness of the great history of the nation’s armed services and service members.
