There was some property damage but no injuries reported in a couple of apparent random ‘drive by’ shootings in Riverbank.

Both occurred late night Sunday, May 14 with one report just after 11 p.m. on Roselle Avenue and a second just a half hour later, on Eighth Street.

“The two cases appear to be related, in that occupants of a passenger car were driving around Riverbank randomly firing a gun out of the vehicle’s window,” said Riverbank Police Services Chief Erin Kiely. “One of the rounds went through the window of a residence in the 6300 block of Eighth Street. Fortunately nobody was injured. RPS Detectives are conducting follow up on this case.”

Deputies are also looking in to a tagging incident on Terminal Avenue that occurred on Saturday night about 7:40 p.m.; they contacted a subject in the area of some recent tagging on an electrical box, but could not establish if this subject was the responsible party.

A property damage hit and run was witnessed by a deputy on Atchison Street just before 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. The driver was detained and cited for the misdemeanor hit and run incident.
