Good Time Accordion Club monthly music and social is set for this evening, Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., Escalon. Accordion fans and performers of all skill levels are welcome, admission is $5 at the door. This month’s featured performer from Las Vegas is Joe Vento of The Three Sons. AARP Driver Safety Foundation is offering a two-day Senior Driving Cdourse at Oak Valley Community Hospital meeting rooms, 1425 W. H St., Oakdale on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-register at 209-847-5121. Class size is limited; cost is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-members. Checks are preferred.

Riverbank United Methodist Women will be hosting their annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Church at Third and Atchison (Highway 108) streets, Riverbank. There will be a homemade soup, beans and pie luncheon served each day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with dine in or take out. The group is seeking crafters to sell their specialty items at the bazaar. A table can be reserved for $25 for the two days with table provided by the Church. If you are interested or have any questions contact Dottie Bates at 209-869-4805. Put the date on your calendar and come by and have lunch and do some holiday shopping.

Oak Valley Art Society, with members from Riverbank, Oakdale, Escalon and beyond, is getting prepared for its annual Fall Art Show on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16. It is a member-only show, but the art society is gladly taking new members. Mediums are Oil, Acrylic, Water Media, Drawing, Pastels, Graphics, Photography, and Sculpture. Have fun and get fit. Something for all ages with students young and old, T’ai Chi class with instructor Mary Layton is being offered every Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. There is a small charge, a $5 fee for the class, which is hosted at the Community Center in Riverbank.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Oct. 19. The League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County is hosting a ‘Meet the Candidates’ event on Wednesday, Oct. 19 for the race for the State Assembly seat representing District 12. Candidates Ken Vogel and Heath Flora will be on hand, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the City of Modesto/County of Stanislaus Chambers located in the basement of the building at 1010 Tenth St., Modesto; enter through Tenth Street entrance.
