The next Accordion Music and Social gathering of the Good Time Accordion Club is planned for this evening, Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month (third Wednesday in November) and accordion fans and performers of all levels are welcome. Oak Valley Hospital District Gift Shop, 350 S. Oak Ave., Oakdale, is hosting an ‘Out with the Old’ sale on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to0 4 p.m. only. There will be storewide savings, with items from 15 to 75 percent off. Look for savings on holiday items, overstocked items and take advantage of $5 jewelry. The gift shop is open to all; come in for some shopping and great deals.

Calendars featuring artwork by local students and celebrating salmon are available for $5 at the Great Valley Museum located at Modesto Junior College West Campus, or by contacting Jamie Meek at eaststanislausrcd.@gmail.com or Teri Curtis at curtist@mjc.edu. Proceeds from the calendar will be used for the 2016 Salmon Festival. Each year, the Stanislaus River Salmon Festival Planning Committee invites young artists to celebrate the return of Chinook salmon to the Stanislaus River through participation in the Salmon Festival Art Contest. Through their artwork, students are encouraged to depict salmon living in the river or ocean.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 20. The February meeting of the Oakdale Women’s Club will be held at Oakdale Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The menu for lunch is General Chicken with sticky rice, egg rolls and for dessert will be a Raspberry Torte. Luncheon begins at noon. All Oakdale and surrounding area women are invited.
