The Skirts ‘n Flirts Square Dance Club of Oakdale is hosting a New Dancer Class, beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Grange Hall, 30 Lambuth Ave., Oakdale, at the corner of West F Street and Lambuth Avenue. The first class is free, then the weekly fee is $6 for adults, $3 for children. Class is open to all those interested; including singles, couples, and children nine and older accompanied by an adult. The Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., will be the host site for the next gathering of the Good Time Accordion Club, set for Wednesday, Sept. 13, featuring both music and a social time. The session starts at 7 p.m. and accordion fans and performers of all skill levels are welcome. Admission is $5 at the door. Special guest performer will be Roberto Rosa. The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center will host its admission-free annual Day with Wildlife on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wildlife Center inside Fox Grove Fishing Access, 1220 Geer Road, Hughson. All are invited to come see some of their educational animals up close and personal. There will be BBQ tri tip sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream sundaes, face painting, T-shirts for sale, raffle drawings, a bake sale, kid’s crafts, and more.

Teens and tweens can learn how to make flavored lip balms on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at a special program offered at the Riverbank Library. Crafters can mix and match colors and flavors to make their own unique lip balms. This program is designed for ages nine and up, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Riverbank Library. Adults are invited to the “On the Road to Citizenship: Naturalization 101” program on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. This free program will focus on the basics of naturalization. The Riverbank Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. to discuss ‘Me Before You’ by Jojo Moyes. The Riverbank Library is at 3442 Santa Fe St., Riverbank. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 20. Mobile District Office (MDO) hours for the month of September have been scheduled through the office of 10th district Congressman Jeff Denham. The MDOs are available to assist 10th district residents with casework on matters including Medicare, Veteran’s Affairs, Social Security, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal agencies. In Riverbank, the mobile visit is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Riverbank City Hall, 6707 Third St., and is being hosted in conjunction with Senator Cathleen Galgiani and Assemblyman Heath Flora’s offices.

Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.

Sail to Recovery will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 23; it’s a program of the local American Veterans First organization. Sail to Recovery will run from noon to 5 p.m. at the Stockton Sailing Club, 4980 Buckley Cove Way in Stockton. Registration is being accepted now and volunteers with boats are being sought; you can volunteer your boat and register as a skipper. The 31st annual McHenry Mansion Foundation’s Table Setting Event is scheduled for Oct. 16 and 17 at the Seasons Event Center, 945 McHenry Ave., in Modesto. Preview day is Monday, Oct. 16 where you will see 40 uniquely decorated tables each, cleverly and beautifully, set to delight all. The table setters use antiques, collectibles, fine china, handy crafts, flora and fauna, to express their individual themes. Light refreshments provided. Doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations for the luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 17 can be made by calling (209) 575-9615.
