Adults are invited to the “On the Road to Citizenship: Naturalization 101” program on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m., offered at the Riverbank Library. This free program will focus on the basics of naturalization. The Riverbank Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. to discuss ‘Me Before You’ by Jojo Moyes. The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration will host a free seminar for nonprofit and exempt organizations on Thursday, Sept. 21 in Stockton. Local nonprofit leaders and tax practitioners are encouraged to attend and learn how state tax laws apply to the operation of their organizations. The seminar runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. The event will be hosted at the San Joaquin County WorkNet Center, 56 S. Lincoln St., Stockton. The Yosemite Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees has issued an invitation to the public to attend a reception to welcome the newly appointed District Chancellor, Henry Chiong Vui Yong. Locally, receptions are planned for Thursday, Sept. 21 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Modesto Junior College – East Campus – Performing Arts Center Lobby; and Friday, Sept. 22 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., Modesto Junior College – West Campus – Central Services Building.

Sail to Recovery will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 23; it’s a program of the local American Veterans First organization. Sail to Recovery will run from noon to 5 p.m. at the Stockton Sailing Club, 4980 Buckley Cove Way in Stockton. Registration is being accepted now and volunteers with boats are being sought; you can volunteer your boat and register as a skipper. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 27. Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is seeking individuals to serve as Area Representatives in the local community. ASSE provides academic year and semester exchange programs in the United States for high school students from around the world. Students are 15 to 18 years of age, have passed a series of academic and character requirements and are awaiting an opportunity to embark on their ‘American Adventure.
