Oakdale’s VFW Post is gearing up for the next of its monthly hamburger night fundraisers, with Wednesday, June 1 the date for the next event. Hours are from 5:30 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m., at the Oakdale Saddle Club Rodeo Grounds clubhouse. Attendees can stay after eating to socialize.

All donations at the dessert table at the monthly dinner go to purchase wreaths for Wreaths Across America. The local VFW and Auxiliary’s goal is to have a wreath on every grave at the Santa Nella Veterans cemetery.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 8. The Oakdale Garden Club’s Annual Scholarship Fundraiser will be hosted on Tuesday, June 21. Doors open at 11 a.m.; lunch at noon. The event features a Salad Bar Luncheon, plant sale and silent auction. It will be held at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale. Tickets are $8 per person or $90 for a table of 8. Tickets are available from Club Members or at the door. Proceeds from the event fund scholarships for local high school graduates pursuing degrees in horticulture. The Turlock Certified Farmers Market (TCFM) will now be held every Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 29 in the Ag Pavilion located near the Hilmar Cheese entrance gate or the West Gate off of Soderquist Road at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock. Blackout dates include the two Saturdays of Fair, July 9 and 16. Guests will be able to enjoy fresh produce, local ingredients, and hand-made items. Parking will be made available on Soderquist Road, as well as inside the Fairgrounds.

Stanislaus County Office of Education’s YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Company is producing the classic musical “Les Misérables, School Edition” to be performed this summer at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto.
