Pets 640x423
Members of the Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance display pets up for adoption as well as distributing vouchers for their low-cost spay/neuter program for animals in both Riverbank and Oakdale. The Alliance had several small dogs and a cat with them for adoption on display at PetCo in the Crossroads Shopping Center in Riverbank on Saturday. Ric McGinnis/The News

Another opportunity to receive vouchers for low cost spaying or neutering of pets was held by the Oakdale Pet Alliance at PetCo on Saturday, Nov. 7. The group works to help prevent unplanned or unwanted litters with their low cost spay/neuter programs, helping to lower the number of homeless pets entering local animal shelters.

The Alliance offers low cost vouchers for residents in the Riverbank and Oakdale zip codes with proof of residency and other eligibility requirements. Members are suggesting it’s a good time to fix cats now that their kittens are weaned and before they come into heat again.

Members also pointed out that the Pit-Chi “Snip ‘n Chip” special continues. They offer free microchip registration and low cost spay/neuter vouchers for pit bulls and mixes and Chihuahuas and mixes. Information on that program is available at http://oakdaleshelterpetalliance.org/spayneuter-voucher-program/.

The Alliance sets up shop regularly for the low cost voucher program, offering them each month at the Oakdale Animal Shelter, 9800 Liberini Avenue, and in the Riverbank Crossroads Shopping Center.
