The City of Riverbank has announced a vacancy on its Planning Commission.
City officials are seeking to fill a seat on the commission for an unexpired term that ends on Dec. 31, 2017. It was formerly filled by Carlos Villapudua.
Officials said the first round of application reviews will consider those submitted by 5:30 p.m. next Monday, July 17. They said the position will remain open until filled. The commission routinely meets once a month, when necessary, on the third Tuesday of the month. It meets at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall North, 6707 Third St., Suite B.
The Planning Commission consists of five citizens who have been appointed by the Mayor, with consensus of the City Council, to review matters related to the City’s planning and development. It is considered a valuable intermediary between the public and the City Council.
As the City Council’s advisory board on land use planning, the commission holds public hearings to consider land use matters such as the local General Plan, the Specific Plan, zoning, use permits, development and any other planning issues. Cities plan in order to identify important community issues, future project demands for services, address potential problems and establish goals and policies for directing and managing future development and expansion.
