Red Cross Issues Blood Donor Plea
Red Cross

As the summer heats up, fewer people will likely take the time to give blood … but the American Red Cross said there is an urgent need to bolster the region’s blood supply.

An emergency shortage of blood could lead to delays in medical care for vulnerable patients, so the Red Cross has issued the call to all eligible donors to make time to schedule a life-saving donation.

Locally, a blood drive this week is scheduled at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the church is at 4300 Dale Road, Modesto. Also, the Modesto Blood Donation Center, 1900 W. Orangeburg Ave., Modesto, is open various hours throughout the week.
