RePLANET Recycling Facility Closed, Removed From Area

A recycling facility was removed from the OBriens Market parking lot this past week after it was closed. Changes in state reimbursement for fees paid to recyclers is said to be the cause of the closure. Ric McGinnis/The News

There is an empty space where a recycling business once stood in the parking lot outside O’Brien’s Market in Riverbank.

RePLANET Recycling, a long time fixture at the shopping center, has not only closed, but by last weekend, its entire facility was removed with only a dusty ‘footprint’ where it once stood.

Customers arriving at the site last week were greeted by signs indicating the center was closed, but by Saturday, only the outline of where the units formerly stood was visible on the ground. The signs had indicated that the state has dropped the amount of reimbursement such facilities.

Still, there is one recycling center remaining in town. Riverbank Recycles is located on Patterson Road, across the street somewhat from Carl’s Jr.
