Riverbank Remembers Dedicated Friends

The Friends of Jacob Myers Park and the City of Riverbank have issued an invitation for local residents to join them at the Bicentennial Grove in the park off Santa Fe on Thursday, Oct. 17 for a special event at 5:30 p.m.

At that time, a tree will be planted in memory of Community Volunteer Scott Pettit and his wife Janet. This living tribute will be the first step in a Memorial Tree planting program presented by the Friends of Jacob Myers. Pettit was the owner of the local Karate for Kids and a tireless volunteer in community activities ranging from Relay For Life to the Christmas Parade.

Pettit and his wife died tragically in August; their son and one of his friends are currently in the Stanislaus County Jail, facing murder charges in connection with the case.
